Stars are an eternal motif which have been interpreted by jewellers in a myriad of creative ways. But all stars are not equal. The North Star is unique. Also know as Polaris, it is the brightest star in the Little Dipper constellation, and occupies a special position in the sky relative to the Earth. It is located at the north celestial pole- the point at which the entire northern sky pivots . This gives the impression that the North Star is stationary whilst all other stars rotate around it. Hence it is a true bearing for north. It is difficult to overstate how essential the North Star was for mariners exploring the oceans before the evolution of modern tracking equipment, or any explorers for that matter.
The design of this pendant acknowledges this prominence, so if intended as a gift, bestows the most heartfelt sentiment- the recipient is the centre of your universe, your guiding light.
The necklace features 0.06ct diamonds and is set in 14ct rose gold.
The necklace has been designed with versatility in mind, and conveniently has four adjustable lengths. 37.5cm at its shortest to 45cm at its longest. So if you favour layering your jewellery, this layers with ease.
Other star pendants in our collection feature lapis lazuli and diamonds, although can be ordered in other gem materials including turquoise and pink opal.
