It is not surprising that turquoise is such a coveted gemstone. It was one of the first gemstones to be mined, hence the deep reverence and veneration for this magical stone in most cultures- it has historical significance. It has been used for ornamentation since antiquity, and has been recorded since at least 3,000BC. Prized for its intense colour, it can vary from a sky-blue to a greenish-blue, depending on its source. Material from Iran is generally considered the finest and most desirable.
The stone is almost always smooth and polished, and only rarely faceted. This composite turquoise is from Mexico.
One of our most coveted pieces, this necklace features 0.80ct composite turquoise and 0.25ct diamonds and is set in 14ct white gold. The elemental butterfly is timeless but contemporary, and the tiny second pavé set diamond motif is what sets it apart- the asymmetry makes it playful and fun, but retains balance in the design.
The motifs are soldered to the chain, which conveniently keeps the pendant in place (it does not run freely along the chain), and this avoids the clasp sliding to the front. The chain is secured with a lobster clasp.
Infinitely versatile, it conveniently has four adjustable lengths, varying from 37.5cm at its shortest to 45cm at its longest. So it layers with ease. Personalise your look by pairing with a diamond letter pendant.
Similar necklaces are available featuring other motifs. We also stock a pink opal and diamond blossom pendant, and a lapis lazuli and diamond blossom pendant. For something more geometric and contemporary, our turquoise and diamond triangle pendant is fun, and the lapis lazuli and diamond star is also popular.
Available in yellow, white and rose gold. If you’d like to explore the pendant with other gem materials, it is possible to order in pink opal and lapis lazuli (amongst others).
Personalise the pendant with a hand engraved message on the backing plate. Please enquire for more information.
